Maria Carmichael From "A Pioneer History of Lanark County" by Jean S. McGill (ISBN 0-9690087-1-6)(page 103), a James Carmichael signed a bond with Archibald McNab to settle in his new settlement in Jan 1825. In April he along with others boarded the "Niagara" at Greenock, Scotland. After a 28 day jouney from Montreal to the present day Arnprior, they arrived to find nothing awaited. The Laird McNab had defrauded them and the story of their hardships for the next few years is very interesting.

This James may well be the Father of Robert, Maria's Father.

I found the whole family in the church records for Schmolsin (FHL #903334, Kirchenbuch, 1655-1865, Evangelische Kirche Schmolsin (Kr. Stolp)). Three rolls 1551879 and 1551880 as well.
