Gwen Bell, 87, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away peacefully at La Verendrye Hospital on Tuesday, March 9, 1999.
She was born Gwen Langstaff on Sept. 20, 1911 at Emo, Ont.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy and husband, Bob Burgstahler, of London, Ont; daughter-in-law, Muriel Bell; grandson, Robert and wife, Wendy; and granddaughters, Debbie and husband, Neil Thorpe, Linda and husband, Al Kaczorek, Penny and husband, John Pierce, and Pat and husband, Kim Roy, all of Fort Frances.
Also included in the family are nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred, and son, Charlie; sisters, Thelma Browman, Lillian Thomas, and Marge Sutcliffe; and brothers, Charlie Langstaff, Ed Langstaff, and Lloyd when he was a youngster.
Cremation took place in Thunder Bay, Ont. At the request of the deceased, there was no service.

In loving memory of Lillian Swenson, age 89 years, of Rainy River, Ontario who passed away on Wednesday April 14, 2002 at the Rainy River Hospital.
Lillian was born on January 2, 1913 in Minnehico, Ontario to Knut and Alida Sward. She was united in marriage to Swen Swenson on April 8, 1937 and together they settled in the Morson area. Lillian and Swen ran Swenson’s Resort until 1969 when Swen passed away. She continued running the resort for one more year with her son Bud before retiring in 1970 and moving to Rainy River. Lillian enjoyed going for drives especially to Morson to visit with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband Swen Swenson on May 12, 1969; daughter Maureen Kreger on April 12,1997 and her son Robert (Bud) Swenson on October 7, 2000.
Lillian is survived by her grandson Greg Kreger (Tiffany Almquist) of Morson, ON; great granddaughter Elisa Roe; son in law Bob Kreger of Rainy River, ON; sister Alice Langstaff of Calgary, AB; and niece Sharon Langstaff.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2002 at 2 p.m at the Bergland Hall in Bergland, ON. Pastor Pat White will officiate with interment in Bergland Cemetery. The honourary pallbearers will be all of Lillian’s family and friends.
In memoriam donations may be made to the Rainy River Hospital Extended Care, 114 Fourth Street, Rainy River, Ontario, POW 1L0. She was the daughter of Knut Sward and Alida (?).¹
