David Johnston was born on 25 December 1836, at, Russell, . At St. Andrews Pres. Church; Born England on the 1861 census, 1836, 1871 census has 1838, but the date is now firm but not the location.

John was back in England in1831 as shown by his medical record, thus he may have stayed with Mary until 1836 and after David was born moved back to Bytown as the record is good for David's baptism in Bytown. But since his sister, Rebecca, was born and christened in Bytown 1833, I believe he could not have been born in England.1,2 He was the son of John Alexander Johnston and Mary "Payne" Prime.
David Johnston married Elizabeth Stewart, daughter of John Stewart and Isabella McNevin, on 25 September 1862, at, Russell, . States:

The only discrepancy from what I had was Thomas' age which the record gave as 24 ( circa 1837 )and this does not agree with the 1871 census( circa 1841).

NEELY , THOMAS: Age 30, Birthplace IRELAND, Religion Wesleyan Methodist, Occupation FARMER
GREY NORTH 037, Sub-dist. Holland B, Div. 1, Page 55, Line 6, Microfilm reel C-9953

Living in Holland Twp., Grey Co. on a 100 acre farm (Conc. 12, Lot 16). It is interesting to note that on the same lot was found a Robert Neely also farming 96 acres. From this one would assume they were brothers, who had immigrated from Ireland to this country only recently. I could not find a trace of them in the 1861 census for Holland or Euphrasia or Artemesia Twps., Grey Co. The religions of both men and their wives was listed as Wesleyan Methodist.

Thomas' farm consisted of 1 house and 2 barns. He had 2 wagons and 2 ploughs and 1 fanning mill. In the past year he had cut 17 cords of firewood.

There was also listed as having died in that year in this Twp. an Thomas Alexander Neely, age 3, of Diarrhea. Other than he was a Wesleyan Methodist, born in Ontario, nothing else was stated. Possibly this was a son of Thomas Neely.5

Anna Langstaff was born in 1833, at, C.W. / Ireland, . At From her gravestone, 1831 from 1851 census.1 She was the daughter of John(1) Langstaff and Dorothea "Dolley" Whitmore.
Anna Langstaff was in at, Grenville, , on the 1851 census in on 12 January 1852
The 1851 census has Ann living at home with her parents in Elizabethtown. Her age of 20 makes her birthday in the year 1831. She is listed as being single. She is also listed as living with the Bullis (sp) family and being aged 22.

John came to Can. in 1831, see petetion under John, and since she was supposedly born in Ireland, 1831 seems to be the best birth date.

Aug. 9, 1999 I found in the 1861 census that an Ann and James Langstaff, ages 30 and 22 (i.e. born 1831 and 1839), were living with John and Jane (nee Langstaff) Warren in district 8 of Augusta Twp. As well Jane's brother John had a John Langstaff, age 55, living with him. I presume this was Ann and James father. Where the mother Dorothea was living is not noted.

Don Pounder, gave me this reference as well to Ann's marriage to Samuel Williamson. Arnold Williamson, Rear of Lansdowne Twp., direct descendent of Samuel, has a family bible with the entery Anna Tackaberry married Samuel Williamson on 19 Jan. 1864.2
As of 21 June 1852,her married name was Tackaberry.3

Anna Langstaff was in at, Grenville, , on the 1861 census
The 1861 census has Ann and James Langstaff, ages 30 and 22 (i.e. born 1831 and 1839), were living with John and Jane (nee Langstaff) Warren in district 8 of Augusta Twp. As well Anna's son Samuel is there as well.
As well Jane's brother John had a John Langstaff, age 55, living with him. I presumed this was Ann and James father but they are living elsewhere. So this is a new John now designated John(2).4
As of 19 January 1864,her married name was Williamson.

Anna Langstaff died in 1868. In the New Dublin Cemetery #1 (dates given 1833-1868).
