Certificate No. 32067 which gave his birth place as Haywood, Lancs.,1844 and that he passed as 2nd Mate at Liverpool on 13 Sept. 1864, (PRO, Bt 122/43 Register of Certificates of Competency, Masters and Mates, Foreign Trade)
There was only one voyage noted in which he served as an AB in the Sir William Wallace (Official No. 7709) which departed from Maryport on 3rd October, 1864 for Shanghai. The vessel was wrecked on 17 August, 1865. From the register it would appear that this man returned to London on 22 Jan. 1868. The name Chinchio Bay is entered under the name of discharge, but whether this is where the vessel was wrecked or was the name of the ship in which he returned in, it is difficult to say. Certainly he lost his certificate when the Sir William Wallace was wrecked and it was renewed, No. 83012.

With regard to voyages, there are two enties for the years 1862 and 1863 in which he served in Morocco and Cuba, but the entries are not at all clear. A register which deals with the years of service 1880-1894 has only the name Ino Rigby entered and no ships recorded. circa 1864.
