Pioneer Here, Dies Thursday

Felix Morris, 87, 401 Beaser Aveune, former president of the Polish National Alliance and active in the Chequamegon Bay Old Settlers Club, died Thursday at a local hospital.

He was born August 14, 1873 In Poland. He came to the United States in 1901 and settled in Ashland.

For many years, he was a member of the city park department crew at Prentice Park, and he offially raised the flag on the occaison dedicating the Chequamegon Bay Old Settlers flagpole at Prentice Park during the early 30's at a historic meeting of the club. He also worked at the blast furnace and at Schroeder*s mill in his earlier days.

He was a membe of The Holy Family Catholic Church.

He is survived by two daughtars, Mrs. James. (Ann) Haus, Ashland, Mrs. Frank (Frances) Ondrik, Mason; two sons Con, Ingram, Wis., and James Mineapolis; one brother in Poland; 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. His wife, and one daughter preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Saturday at8:30a.m. at the Frost Home for Funerals and at 9 a.m. the Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends may call at the Frost Chapel after 4 p.m. Friday Recitation of the rosary will be at 8 p.m. Friday.¹

She is survived by her husband, James, Ashland; one daughter Mrs. John (Marilee) Radloff; two grand children; two brothers, Con Morris, Ingram, Wis; and James Morris, Minneapolis; one sister Mrs. Frank (Frances) Ondrik, Mason. One sister predeceased her in death.

Funeral services will take place Tuesday at 9:30 am. at the Frost Funeral Chapel, and at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Ashland. Father Clement Leahy will officiate. Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery, Ashland.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today, Monday. Recitation of the rosary will be at 8 p.m. this evening, Monday.¹

Frances Ondrik, 85, 615 Prentice Ave., Ashland, died Tuesday, July 20, 1999 at her home. She was born July 1, 1914; in Ashland, the daughter of Felix and Leocadia (Teikoska) Morris.

     She grew up on Beaser Avenue and attended Holy Family School, Ashland. She married Mart Solberg on May 28, 1933, in Ashland. He preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1935. On Nov 26 1936, she married Frank C. Ondrik in Waukegan, Ill. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1989. She and Frank moved to Mason where they worked in their dairy farm for 48 years. They came to Ashland in 1983. Frances also worked at Chippewa Wood Products, Drummond for five years; as housekeeper at Memorial Medical Center for eight years; and as dispatcher for Ante*s Checker Cab Service for 10 years. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Ashland. Frances enjoyed magazines, TV and playing cards.

     She is survived by four daughters, Christie (Earl) Morris, Middletown, Pa; Barbara (Foster) Harris, Yucca Valley, Calif; Debra (Ronald) Muska, Mason, and Carol (Robert) Ante, Ashland; two sons, Charles (Nancy) Ondrik, solon Springs, and James (Pam) Ondrik, Port Deposit, Md; a daughter-in-law, Harriet Ondrik, Crystal Lake, Ill; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Emily Morris, Lodi; special friends, Frank and Elsie Kramolis; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Mart Solberg; her second husband, Frank C. Ondrik, two sons, David and Jon; grandson, Douglas Troy Muska; two brothers, Jim and Con; and two sisters Ann and Mary.¹
