Ian his son wrote: In conversations with my father, he told me that the day of the wedding they had a bad snowstorm and could not get across country to get to Carleton Place because the roads were impassible. They had to come to Ottawa on Highway 17 and take Highway 15 to Carleton Place, and even then it was doubtful at times.1

Ian William Ian Langstaff married Elizabeth Joan Martin, daughter of Arnold "Larry" Martin and Dorothy Bridget Varrette, on 11 December 1965, at St James Anglican Church, Carp, Carleton, ON.      St. James Church, Carp, was the scene of an interesting wedding when Miss Joan Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Martin , Munster, became the bride of William Ian Langstaff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Langstaff, Carp, Saturday, December 11th at 12:30 pm. Rev. J.B. Owen performed the ceremony and Mrs. William Irvine was at the organ.
     The bride who was given by her father, wore a floor length gown of white satin with a matching head dress and a shoulder length veil.
     Her attendants were Miss Nancy Mahlitz, Ottawa, as Maid of Honour, and her sister Miss Linda Martin as bridesmaid both wearing street length dresses in different shades of blue with matching head dresses.
     The groom was supported by his cousin Fred Millar, and the ushers were Kenneth Hawkins of Carleton Place and Gerald Coleman, Tennyson, both also cousins of the groom.
     At a reception held in the church hall after the ceremony about 60 guests offered congratulations and good wishes to the happy couple and partook of a wedding dinner.
     Mr. and Mrs. Langstaff left for a honeymoon trip from the bride's home at Munster later in the afternoon.

James Millar died on 10 February 1981, at Carleton Lodge, Ottawa, Carleton Co., ON.      James Millar, a resident of Carleton Lodge (formerly of Carp), passed away suddenly in hospital, Tuesday, Feb. 10th, 1981 in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of the late Hannah Langstaff, he is survived by a son Fred, daughter-in-law Lola and grandaughter Tracy of Pakenham, also a sister Peggy in Ireland. Predeceased by a son, Harold.
     Jim came to Canada in April 1926 had had always been a resident in this area. He worked for the late F. S. Caldwell for years, after which he had his own milk transport. When he sold his transport, he worked at the National Research until his retirement.
     He was postmaster of RBP No.433; LOL No. 439; and OYB No. 270 all of Carp. He was also a member of The Huntley Friendship Club.
     Service was conducted by Rev. Horace Lamble in the Tubman Kennedy Funeral Parlors on Wednesday, February 11 at 2p.m. Internment in St. James Cemetery in the spring.
     Honorary Pallbearers were Ross Craig, Ross Glassford, Glen Rivington, Donald Munroe, Richard Childs and Gerald Morris.1

Harold James Millar was born on 16 August 1933, at Carp, Carleton, ON.1 He was the son of James Millar and Hannah Jane "Annie" Langstaff.1
Harold James Millar died on 16 June 1961. Harold Died of Cancer.

     This whole community was saddened on Friday, June 16, by the death of Harold Millar, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. James Millar, in his 28th year, who had been ill for several months.
     He is survived by his parents, and one brother Fred, and several uncles and aunts. Deceased was very well known and highly thought ofin this district, was educated at Carp Public School and Almonte High School and was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Carp, and of the Orange Order, Loyal Orange Young Britons, and the Royal Black Perceptory.
     On Sunday evening, members of these three orders met to pay tribute to their departed brother at a memorial service in the Kennedy Funeral Home. This was one of the largest gatherings of its kind ever held in Carp.
     The funeral took place on Monday afternoon at 2:30 with the service in St. James Church being conducted Rev. T. H. O'Driscoll. There were many beautiful floral arrangements. Hyms chosen were "Unto the Hills Around" and "The Strife is O'er,The Battle Done".
     Pallbearers were Ross Craig, Allan Armstrong, Garfield Boyd, Eddie Vance, Theodore Carruthers and Gerald Morris.
     Internment was in St. James Cemetery, Carp.

    In a conversation with Lola Langstaff when looking for information on the Langstaff's, she mentioned that Harold James Millar's name should actually be James Harold Millar. According to her the name was changed on the gravestone because it looked better.

    Harold worked for Howard Caldwell at the time of his death.
