David A. Ireland emigrated in 1854 from From Ireland, via Quebec City. to
; Partly due to the Potato Famine and the fact that his father remarried when his first wife died, David and his brother John and sister Margaret emigrated. When they reached Quebec City they continued, via canal boats to Whitby and eventually made their way to the newly opened Bruce County.³
David A. Ireland lived in 1857, at Lot 13, cons XII., , Bruce, ; He later moved fto lot 15, cons II for better land and purchased "Squatters Rights" to this land from Wm. Barbour for the sum of $900.³ He was New Tag David obtained registered the deed for Lot 15 this year. In order to do that he had to pay $152.
The farm, origanally solid bush except for a small clearing where Cons. 2 meets Hwy. 4. Here he proceeded to build a newer more sunstantial loh home in front of the existing log cabin.
