At From age at death and 1881 census; In her later years, Mrs. Whiteman gave some of her earliest recollections of life in Culross Twp., where she was born in 1856 on Con. 10 eats at the big hill on a farm later occupied by the Borho family. That is near the first trail into Culross from the Durham Road. As a toddler, she recalle, she went down the hill to the creek with her father to catch fish for supper, and she heard her parents tell of the attacks of bears upon young livestock. After only a few years there the family moved to Con. 6 west. Son Andrew, 3 years old, buried in Smith's Cemetery.¹ She was the daughter of John Whiteman and Ann Jane (?).
